Band of Blogs

The best music on the web this week.

Róisín Murphy - Momma’s Place
The Wicklow-born diva returns with a great pop-house number which serves as a forewarning to her new baby daughter that mama was a bad girl first and knows all the tricks in the book.

The Knife’s opera opus
A stunning 11-minute song which appears on the Swedish electro duo’s forthcoming opera side project album Tomorrow, In A Year. ‘Colouring the Pigeon’ was easily the most popular song in the music blogosphere last week.

Reflection Eternal mixtape
Talib Kweli (who plays Tripod on 30th of January) takes a break from his sporadically good solo career to re-unite with producer Hi-Tek under the Reflection Eternal banner once again this year. The RE:Union mixtape which features guests spots from Jay Electronica and Mos Def is a taster of what’s to come.

Jay Electronica – Exhibit C
Speaking of the New Orleans rapper and father of Erykah Badu’s child, he has also produced one of the best rap songs in eons in the form of Exhibit C showcasing a soulful sample, bumping bass all while divulging his own backstory. An instant classic.
